Some police officers have had a really narrow and nasty brush with death after their police car suddenly went up in flames.
This is the moment a police car was caught on camera burning high with flames after it exploded.
Two police officers who were in the car had a lucky escape after they had to jump out of the vehicle moments before it burst into a raging fireball on a busy motorway.
Shocking footage shows thick black smoke billowing from the car as hellish flames tear through the bonnet.
The Sun UK reports that the two officers were responding to an emergency call before their £30,000 BMW bobby car exploded on the M20 near Ashford, Kent,UK.
Kent Police said it is too early to say what caused the fire but it has been reported that an electrical fault is to blame.
The spokesman said: “The London-bound carriageway at junction 10 of the M20 was closed following a car fire.”
He added: “The fire destroyed a police traffic vehicle. No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.”
An eyewitness who captured the shocking scene said: “The two officers inside had a lucky escape and jumped out of the car which was well alight as it came to a stop.”
A three-mile queue tailing back towards Folkestone built up on the London-bound carriageway just after 4pm.
An hour later, Highways England said traffic was flowing in two lanes between junction 11 for Hythe and junction 10 for Ashford.
The third lane remained closed to allow recovery teams to remove the written-off patrol car
